Things to consider when you’re looking for good quality pasteurised milk
Single-origin.
Where your milk comes from one farm and herd.
Organic whole milk is best.
Whole food has the highest nutritional value as it’s had less process involved.
A simple low-heat treatment.
Just enough to eliminate any pathogen concerns.
Avoid homogenised milk where possible.
The homogenisation process breaks down butterfat, thus there is no separation of fat and whey. In the process, the structure of the fat is damaged so that our body can’t process it.
Avoid standardised milk.
This is where milk has been reconstituted with water, containing less nutritional value or benefits like whey might have.
MILKY MYTHS
Myth: Raw milk isn't safe
Fact: Times have changed and modern production methods along with farm-regulated control schemes (RCS) are now in place to minimalize any risk associated with raw milk. In addition, it’s also a seasonal product that has variables depending on what the herd is fed during the year.
Myth: Pasteurisation removes all the goodness
Fact: Pasteurised milk is just as beneficial in its whole form to raw milk. For example, it isn’t highly processed or standardised like a lot of commercially produced supermarket milk. Pasteurisation from a single-origin farm like ours has the ability to retain nutritional density by producing in small batches.
